General Function:
Oversees the development, design, and daily maintenance of the college’s website and digital presence to ensure a dynamic, accessible, and user-friendly experience. Working within the Marketing and Communications division, this position serves as the primary technical and creative resource for online communications, ensuring consistent branding, accessibility, and compliance across all web content. Partners with departments across campuses to enhance the college’s digital visibility, support recruitment and retention goals, and maintain compliance with ADA, WCAG, and institutional standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Web Development, Computer Science, Digital Communications, or related field and at least two (2) years of experience designing and maintaining websites or digital platforms including experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, content management systems, and accessibility standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Web Development, Web Design, Computer Science, Communications, Information Technology, or related field and three years of experience in higher education, marketing, or public information environments.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain the college website and other digital platforms or assets to ensure functionality, consistency, and visual appeal. Ensure compliance with accessibility and brand standards for all web pages and online content.
- Supports and coordinates with the Motlow State Accessibility Committee to ensure all Motlow web assets and web presence meets applicable accessibility standards and are compliant with ADA, Section 508, WCAG, and emerging U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) requirements.
- Manage the content management system (CMS) and serve as the lead administrator and technical resource for users.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications staff to align web content with institutional marketing strategies.
- Implement and monitor SEO strategies to improve search performance and web traffic.
- Produce and analyze web analytics reports to inform content and design improvements.
- Train and support departmental web editors on CMS use, accessibility, and content strategy.
- Coordinate with IT and vendors on hosting, domain management, and site security.
- Develop and maintain forms, landing pages, and digital campaign assets supporting recruitment and outreach.
- Stay current with emerging web technologies and higher education marketing trends.
- Collaborate with marketing and other college staff on assigned projects

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and ability to apply web design and development principles
- Proficiency with HTML/CSS/JavaScript, accessibility laws, SEO, analytics, digital marketing tools, and brand standards
- Knowledge of and proficiency in web and content design, CMS management, digital communication, collaboration, and problem-solving
- Ability to create accessible, engaging web content; manage multiple projects; translate complex ideas into user-centered solutions; maintain consistency across departments.
- Familiarity with PHP, SQL, or web APIs.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud or other digital design applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies
- Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices and the ability to effectively apply them in the higher education environment.
