Job Title: Temporary Part-time Disability Services Assistant
Hiring Salary Range: $15.00 per hour
Institution: Walters State Community College - Morristown Campus (Employees are assigned to a “home” location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.)
Job Purpose: The purpose of this position is to provide clerical and administrative support to the disability services office with responsibilities involving training and tech support for students on the use of a variety of assistive technologies, research, maintaining the equipment distribution database, and general office support.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide training, guidance, and ongoing technical support to students utilizing assistive technology resources, including but not limited to Everway Read&Write, Genio Notetaking Software, Livescribe Smart Pen, Roger Pen, and Fusion Suite. This also requires travel to other campus locations as needed to provide direct support and assistance to students utilizing disability services and assistive technology resources.
- Deliver training and support to faculty members regarding the effective implementation and use of assistive technology accommodations within the classroom environment.
- Maintain regular communication with assistive technology vendors to troubleshoot issues, coordinate support, and ensure timely resolution of equipment or software concerns.
- Manage and maintain records related to assistive technology equipment inventory and check-out processes.
- Research emerging assistive technologies, accessibility tools, and best practices to enhance support services for students with disabilities.
- Conduct periodic follow-up with students and administer feedback surveys to evaluate the effectiveness, accessibility, and overall impact of assistive technology accommodations and support services, while identifying additional student support needs.
- Provide training and support to student workers on each campus (10-20 students).
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience with database systems, spreadsheets, and office software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping.
- Ability to communicate professionally with faculty, staff, students, and external vendors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with troubleshooting issues with various types of technology.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
- Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Familiarity with the inner workings of a community college.

Leadership & Supervisory: The incumbent does not have supervisory authority or responsibility for the work of others, nor for the administration or direction of programs or projects. Assignments are carried out with limited consultation. The incumbent may refer to established resources, guidelines, and the supervisor for clarification when required. Work is periodically reviewed to assess progress and ensure alignment with established objectives.
Environment & Working Conditions: Work is performed in a standard office environment that is temperature-controlled, well-lit, and free from loud noises and unnecessary interruptions.
Physical Demands (including requirements for travel or working nights/weekends/holidays):
- Frequent use of computers, phones, copiers, scanners, and related office equipment.
- Walking, standing and speaking for extended periods of time.
- May require occasional lifting of standard office materials of no more than 20 lbs. and intermittent activity related to office support functions.
