Position Summary

The Digital Experience & Communications Coordinator supports the College’s digital communication ecosystem by managing and coordinating content, communication workflows, accessibility compliance, user experience standards, and digital governance across the College’s primary communication platforms. These include ChattanoogaState.edu as our primary public-facing website, and our intranet environment with TigerWeb and SharePoint Communications sites, and faculty/staff announcements. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, this role collaborates closely with the Marketing & Communications team, campus departments, and institutional partners to ensure digital communications are accessible, strategically organized, audience-centered, and aligned with institutional priorities.

This role serves as a key coordinator for digital communications by helping determine the appropriate channel and placement for faculty, staff, students, and public-facing information, including mass communications to employees. The Digital Experience & Communications Coordinator supports the College’s shift toward a more collaborative, user-focused, and strategically integrated digital communication environment.

Holistic Student Support

  • Support clear, prospective and current student-centered digital communication across ChattanoogaState.edu, TigerWeb, and SharePoint to help students access information, services, deadlines, and resources efficiently.
  • Coordinate and maintain digital content related to enrollment, advising, registration, financial aid, events, and student support services across institutional platforms.
  • Evaluate digital user experiences and recommend improvements that reduce confusion, improve navigation, and support student success.
  • Assist in ensuring digital communications and content meet accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA), helping provide access to information for all learners.
  • Monitor student-facing communication across .edu, SharePoint, and TigerWeb to ensure time-sensitive information (deadlines, events, and announcements) is placed in the appropriate channel rather than duplicated across spaces or buried in mass email.

Teaching Excellence

  • Support faculty and staff communication efforts by coordinating appropriate placement of institutional announcements, updates, events, and internal resources across .edu, SharePoint, and TigerWeb.
  • Assist departments with organizing and maintaining accurate content placement within .edu, SharePoint, and TigerWeb.
  • Promote effective communication practices by helping departments select the appropriate communication channel rather than defaulting to mass email distribution.
  • Respond to requests from faculty and staff to support accurate, well-organized content placement across institutional digital platforms, following established workflows coordinated by the Marketing and Communications Operations Coordinator.

Program Innovation

  • Support digital governance and communication strategy across the College’s evolving digital ecosystem, including ChattanoogaState.edu (ChattState.edu), TigerWeb, SharePoint, and future institutional communication platforms.
  • Coordinate digital communication workflows by evaluating requests and determining the appropriate channel placement for announcements, calendars, news items, alerts, forms, and reference information.
  • Report website and portal analytics by monitoring engagement, search behavior, user interaction trends, and communication effectiveness to better inform marketing campaign effectiveness, to improve the user experience, and to make sure information is reaching the right audience
  • Use analytics and user behavior data to recommend improvements to digital communication structure, navigation, and user experience, supporting both organic reach and paid media performance, search engine optimization, and emerging generative engine optimization practices across ChattState's digital marketing assets..
  • Collaborate closely with the Operations Coordinator, Content Coordinator, Graphic Design Coordinator, and social media and multimedia production Coordinator to support integrated campaigns and communication efforts.

Organizational Culture

  • Model collaboration by working closely with teammates and campus departments to support a coordinated, user-centered digital communication environment.
  • Maintain digital governance standards, including content lifecycle management, review schedules, accessibility expectations, and content ownership practices.
  • Reduce communication noise and redundancy by helping campus departments identify the most effective digital channel for their message, decreasing reliance on mass email, and making better use of existing institutional platforms.
  • Maintain organized documentation, archives, calendars, and communication records within the College’s Microsoft 365 environment to support continuity and succession planning.
  • Assist in maintaining institutional consistency across digital communication platforms, ensuring information is accurate, accessible, timely, and appropriately placed.
  • Follow established project workflows and timelines defined by the Operations Coordinator while supporting cross-functional collaboration and strategic priorities.

Fiscal Stewardship

  • Maintain accurate records and reporting related to platform analytics, QR code tracking, and digital communication performance data to support data-informed decision-making.
  • Help prevent costly communication errors or duplication by supporting review processes, accessibility compliance, and content governance standards.
  • Support long-term institutional efficiency by organizing digital content and communication systems for sustainability, reuse, and consistency.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, digital media, information systems, higher education administration, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in digital communications, web coordination, intranet management, content governance, user experience support, or related work.
  • Experience working with content management systems, intranet platforms, or digital communication tools.
  • Experience using Google Analytics, Looker Studio, or related reporting platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across departments while maintaining strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in higher education communications, marketing, web services, or digital operations.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and digital compliance practices.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Modern Campus CMS, Ellucian Experience, or similar tools.

Knowledge, Skills, and Work Characteristics

  • Approaches the work with genuine curiosity, staying current on UX research, accessibility standards, communication best practices, and digital trends, and bringing that awareness back to improve how ChattState communicates digitally.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to coordinate digital information across multiple platforms and audiences.
  • Ability to think strategically about digital communication workflows, audience needs, and user experience.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, particularly related to accessibility, organization, content accuracy, and communication quality.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively within established project management processes and timelines directed by the Operations Coordinator.
  • Working knowledge of accessibility principles, content governance practices, digital communication standards, and user-centered communication design.
  • Ability to interpret analytics and engagement data to support recommendations for communication and user experience improvements.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft 365 tools including Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, and related collaboration platforms.
  • Commitment to maintaining organized documentation, communication archives, and digital continuity practices that support institutional knowledge and long-term sustainability.

Salary Range: $ 44,156 - $ 55,196
