Job Summary
The Aviation Technology Lab Technician maintains Aviation Technology labs and equipment, setting up and supervising laboratory activities, and assists faculty with curriculum development, instructional activities, program outreach and recruitment.
Job Duties
- Assist with outreach and recruitment activities
- Assist students with academic planning and refer them to student support resources as needed
- Serve as lab assistant for aviation labs, including day, evening, and weekend labs as assigned
- Assist with developing and implementing policies and procedures for aviation labs
- Assist faculty with the integration of soft skills (communication, teamwork, financial literacy, interview skills, etc.) into the curriculum
- Evaluate equipment and supply needs in aviation labs and recommend updates, reorders, or maintenance
- Provide administrative support for grant reporting, data collection, and documentation
- Participate in appropriate professional development activities
Minimum Qualifications
• FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certification
• At least one (1) year of experience in an aviation industrial setting
• Associate degree in aviation, aerospace, or related industrial field from an accredited institution
Preferred Qualifications
• FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certification with Inspection Authorization
• Experience teaching in a classroom and/or laboratory environment
• Project management or administrative experience
• Training in an industrial environment
• Conversational ability or fluency in a second language
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Technology Skills: MS Office suite; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems
• Knowledge of or background in technical education sufficient to assist with curriculum development, course updates, and basic instructional activities
• Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with faculty, students, and administrators
• Time management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
• Demonstrate sufficient manual dexterity to safely operate laboratory equipment and ability to supervise laboratory exercises in an instructional environment
