Brief Job Overview/Summary

The School of Behavioral and Social Sciences invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track Instructor of Social Work position (Teaching Specialist), starting September 1, 2025. The position involves teaching courses across the curriculum in the undergraduate and graduate Social Work program.

Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to teach courses in the following areas at both the undergraduate and graduate level: social work practice, research methods, human behavior development and theory, social welfare policy and race, ethnicity and diversity.
  • Expectation of a teaching load of four classes per semester and may involve teaching in the evenings
  • Significant practice experience, excellent teaching and community service are expected
  • Additional responsibilities include assistance with accreditation activities, curriculum development, and student advisement as negotiated under the collective bargaining agreement
  • Faculty members are expected to contribute to the General Studies curriculum
  • Support Stockton University’s commitment and strong student-centered vision and mission

Required Qualifications:

  • MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program
  • Two years post-MSW practice experience
  • Teaching experience at the college level

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Social Work or D.S.W. is strongly preferred
  • Teaching experience in social work courses
  • Experience teaching diverse populations in an academic setting
