Located one hour from Philadelphia and two hours from New York City, the university offers unique living and learning environments throughout southern New Jersey, including the 1,600-acre Galloway campus in the Pinelands National Reserve and Stockton University Atlantic City, located in the University District, just steps from the beach and the iconic Atlantic City Boardwalk. 

Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the Stockton University School of Business enrolls approximately 2000 students across undergraduate and graduate programs that include: accounting, business administration, business analytics, computer information systems, computer science, eSports management, entrepreneurship, finance, health administration and leadership, hemp and cannabis business management, and hospitality, tourism and event management.

Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean will:

  • Provide collaborative and inclusive leadership grounded in transparency and shared governance
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives that support academic excellence and institutional priorities
  • Oversee the development, assessment, and continuous improvement of academic curricula and programs
  • Foster an environment that supports faculty and staff recruitment, development, retention, and evaluation

Job Responsibilities:

1. Providing administrative and academic oversight of the academic and operational programs of the School of Business, including:

  • Providing leadership that aligns with the University mission, policies, procedures and all applicable statutes and regulations
  • Providing strategic leadership and vision aligned with the School’s mission
  • Developing and administering the School of Business budgets in accordance with all appropriate University policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Supporting efforts to increase enrollment in undergraduate and graduate programs
  • Overseeing Business program curricula to ensure that academic programs can effectively and efficiently serve the student population, including supervising course scheduling, course-delivery modalities, curriculum development, and faculty workloads
  • Providing direction, recommendations, and administrative support for the development of new academic programs
  • Facilitating the incorporation of new technologies into the curriculum and faculty research endeavors
  • Promoting student academic success and support initiatives that close equity gaps
  • Mediating student questions and concerns as they relate to Business academic programs and faculty, including student grievances and academic appeals
  • Working with program faculty, staff, and relevant University offices to assure students are achieving University and program learning outcomes, including administering an effective assessment system commensurate with AACSB and MSCHE accreditation standards
  • Working in collaboration with the Dean of Graduate and Continuing Studies to develop data-driven graduate and continuing education programs that address regional workforce needs
  • Providing support and professional development opportunities for School of Business staff
  • Supporting School of Business faculty in teaching, scholarship, and service

2. Building and strengthening relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry and community partners, including:

  • Working in cooperation with the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs to seek alternate sources of revenue and to foster relationships with current and potential donors through both corporate and personal philanthropy
  • Representing the School and University, as appropriate, with external agencies, offices, and advisory boards, and overseeing community and public relations for the School of Business
  • Providing oversight to the Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality and Tourism and Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in a manner that supports their individual missions and integration with University educational and extra-curricular activities and supports their fiscal health within the constraints of the resources available to them
  • Developing and executing strategies to expand international student enrollment and foster global academic partnerships

3. Managing personnel evaluation processes, including:

  • Providing recommendations to the Provost on all personnel matters consistent with collective bargaining agreements
  • Reviewing and evaluating staff who report directly and indirectly to the Dean, and making recommendations for advancement and, where needed, for performance improvement
  • Reviewing and evaluating faculty, and making recommendations for reappointment, tenure, and promotion in accordance with University, School, and Program guidelines
  • Requesting new and replacement faculty and staff positions, as well as overseeing the search and hiring of individuals for such positions, including the nomination of candidates

4. Fulfilling other duties as assigned by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Required Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in business or closely related field
  • Record of scholarly/activity and service meriting an appointment as full professor with tenure (by the time first eligible)
  • Demonstrated success with a minimum of 3 years' experience as a Dean, Assistant or Associate Dean from an Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)-accredited business school
  • Experience with AACSB accreditation reviews
  • Demonstrated innovation in curriculum and program development in support of student success
  • Experience developing partnerships with businesses and other external organizations
  • Experience developing and executing fundraising strategies
  • Fiscal management skills including budgeting experience at the school or program level

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven success with AACSB accreditation reviews
  • Demonstrated commitment to shared governance
  • Experience working in faculty and staff unionized environments
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership, faculty, staff and students to further a shared strategic vision
  • Experience with supporting faculty in a teacher-scholar model
  • Experience executing strategic planning priorities
  • Experience serving a diverse student population
  • Demonstrated experience with interdisciplinary curriculum development, and distance education programs
  • Highly developed people management skills and community building experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience building international partnerships
