Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) is one of the six areas of the Costello College of Business. With 20 tenure line faculty and 14 instructional term faculty, the ISOM area is the largest academic area in the Costello College of Business. It is an ambitious, and collegial group that highly values excellence in research, teaching, and service. It includes faculty in MIS, Operations Management, and Business Analytics disciplines, with several having multidisciplinary interests. Our faculty conducts managerially relevant research using a diverse set of methodologies. The ISOM Area faculty have published regularly in premier journals including Management Science, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, IEEE Transactions on Knowledge & Data Engineering, Journal of Management Information Systems, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production & Operations Management, Strategic Management Journal, Administrative Science Quarterly, as well as many other top journals. About the Position:
The Assistant Professor of MIS teaches Management Information System courses in undergraduate and graduate programs and delivers high-quality research. This is a full-time position with benefits. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities:
Conducts high-quality research for publication in top-tier academic journals;
Teaches Management of Information Systems (MIS) courses in undergraduate and/or graduate programs. The teaching load for this position is determined according to the College’s workload policy which specifies an initial load of 9 credits (this typically translates to 3 courses/year) for tenure-track assistant professor candidates and highly productive researchers; and
Additional responsibilities include service to the ISOM Area, the Costello College of Business, the University, and the profession, such as journal reviewing/editing, academic community engagement, student mentoring, committee membership, and interfacing with the business community.
Required Qualifications:
PhD or equivalent in MIS or a closely related discipline prior to the start of Fall 2025. For current doctoral students, there must be clear evidence of PhD completion by the Fall semester start date in 2025;
Collegiality and ability to work well with colleagues;
Evidence of a strong research trajectory with the potential for publications in top-tier academic journals; and
Evidence of effective teaching or the potential to effectively teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
Alignment of research interests with current MIS faculty; and
Fewer than three years since PhD conferral.
