About the Department:

The Office of Marketing and Communications within University Life, supports the division's efforts to engage all of the Mason community.

About the Position:

The Graphic Designer will work as part of a team comprised of marketing and communications professionals and reports to the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications within University Life Marketing and Communications. This is a part-time, hourly wage position.

Responsibilities:

  • Design high-quality print and digital deliverables for University Life events/campaigns/programming/etc.;
  • Contribute to the development and execution of a unit social media plan; and
  • Develop content for university communications channels.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with print and publication design;
  • Ability to generate original concepts and execute them from start to finish;
  • Direct experience with final preparation and packaging of print materials;
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Bridge/Lightroom);
  • Experience with operating a DSLR camera;
  • Experience with photography editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite Lightroom, Camera Raw, etc.;
  • Experience with multiple photo editing techniques;
  • Knowledge of CMYK, RGB, and PMS color grids;
  • Ability to provide a portfolio or samples online;
  • Working knowledge of social media management and implementation (Instagram, X, YouTube, Hootsuite);
  • Ability to work in an office in a Mac environment;
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated organizational management and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently meet a multitude of deadlines and responsibilities;
  • Proven ability to thrive in a team-oriented workplace; and
  • Ability to work occasional weekends or evenings to support departmental events, orientations, and/or information sessions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in marketing project management;
  • Experience with graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, and more;
  • Demonstrated experience with project management platforms; and
  • Ability to be present at Mason’s Fairfax campus as needed by supervisors.
