About the Department: The George Mason University Writing Center provides writing support for undergraduate and graduate students from majors across the university. Services include individual writing consultations in face-to-face and online formats, enrollment tutoring for multilingual writers, workshops, graduate student writing groups, and print and online resources. The Writing Center holds 7000 – 8000 individual appointments/year, provides 100+ outreach events, and trains and mentors a staff of 40 - 50 undergraduate and graduate student tutors and administrators each year. The Writing Center conducts programs in partnership with University Libraries, Writing Across the Curriculum, Students as Scholars, INTO Mason, the Office of Academic Integrity, Graduate Student Life, and the Office of Disability Services, among others. |
About the Position: The ESOL Specialist supports the growing population of international and domestic ESOL writers at George Mason University by offering individualized instruction to ESOL writers, administering the ESOL tutoring program, training the tutoring staff to work with ESOL writers, and developing workshops and writing groups for ESOL students. |
