Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Arts Center is seeking a reliable and motivated student worker to assist with both front-of-house and technical operations. This position supports a wide range of events, including concerts, film screenings, lectures, and community rentals. The ideal candidate will be dependable, customer service-oriented, and willing to learn basic technical and administrative skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
Full time (12 credits)
Preferred Qualifications:
Federal Work Study Eligible
Assist with box office operations, including ticket sales, will call, and customer service
Greet and assist patrons before and during events
Serve as an usher or house manager when needed
Support technical director with event setup, lighting, sound, and staging (training provided)
Help with post-event cleanup and equipment storage
Assist with marketing tasks such as posting flyers and updating signage
Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Attend mandatory training sessions and staff meetings
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during events
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds (e.g., chairs, cables, small equipment)
Comfortable with climbing stairs and occasional use of ladders (for technical setup)
Manual dexterity to operate computer systems, phones, and technical equipment
Ability to work in low-light or darkened theater environments during performances
Occasional bending, reaching, and carrying event-related materials
Must be able to communicate clearly with patrons, staff, and team members in a busy environment
Work Hours:
Mon-Fri, evenings and some weekends depending on performances in the Arts Center; will work around student schedule
