Salary/Position Classification

  • $1,888.89/month for a master’s student or $2,388.80/month for a doctoral student monthly.

Purpose of Position

The School of Graduate Studies is offering a half-time (20 hours/week) GSA position to assist with building services, programs and events. The position is located at the Gershman Graduate Center and will begin August 18, 2025.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Building & Information Services
    • Regulate and monitor service, safety, and security of the Gershman Graduate Center by walking rounds, completing opening/closing procedures, responding to issues, questions, and completing reports.
    • Responsible for building event set-ups/tear downs and assisting with technical requirements, furniture, and equipment.
    • Maintain coffee machine and keep a clean and neat appearance of lounge, meeting rooms, hallways, and storage areas.
    • Maintain a welcoming and approachable environment for users of the Gershman Graduate Center by providing superior service to guests in person, by email and phone.
    • Maintain knowledge of Graduate School website, campus services and resources to serve as the primary receptionist for incoming questions from graduate students and other guests.
    • Maintain knowledge of building, event, and reservation policies and communicates to guests as needed.
    • Hosts tours of the Gershman Graduate Center.
    • Execute emergency procedures (such as building evacuations and medical emergencies). 
  • Programs and Events support
    • Provide daily administrative assistance and event day support for graduate activities coordinated by the School of Graduate Studies.
    • Manage data for all event and workshop activities including but not limited to tracking RSVP and attendance rates, creating reports, developing assessment and other types of surveys (Qualtrics, Sign Up Genius, Doodle).
    • Manage, update, and assist with the Graduate School Blackboard account, and Go Sign Me Up and Mazevo reservation systems.
    • Provide Zoom and calendaring support for graduate school activities.
    • Assist with program development, planning, facilitating, and executing graduate-related events and activities and ongoing communication and promotion plans.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • The candidate will need the availability to work a minimum of four-hour blocks of time in the morning or afternoon (8-4:30pm, Monday-Friday). Occasional evening hours may arise. Willingness to adjust schedule to meet building needs or to work major graduate school events is critical to this position. Schedule of hours is based on building and staffing needs and event support.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a current UND graduate student
  • Bachelor’s degree or graduate enrollment in arts, humanities, social sciences, business or marketing degrees or programs.
  • Eligible for a graduate assistantship (in good academic standing and enrolled in 6 credits or more)
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year experience providing excellent customer service in a professional setting
  • Experience with audio/visual equipment
  • Experience updating and managing websites
  • Experience managing and tracking data and using excel spreadsheets
  • Experience developing Qualtrics surveys
  • Experience with marketing and promotions
  • Experience with facilities management
