Purpose of Position
This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position. The LEADS Communications Intern plays an important role communicating about the UND strategic plan, UND LEADS. This position requires organizational skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal communication abilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- LEADS Storytelling:
- Serve as a point of contact for individuals involved in the publication of UND Today stories related to LEADS-aligned activities.
- Assist with writing and editing stories, social media posts, and other communications pieces focused on the LEADS strategic plan.
- Manage the organization and tracking of data related to storytelling activities, such as views and other measures of audience engagement.
- Outreach and Event Assistance:
- Review campus events for LEADS alignment.
- Assume responsibility for distributing and collecting LEADS promotional materials for campus events.
- Provide assistance to AVP for Strategy & Implementation and LEADS Implementation Team event planning and hosting.
- Record Keeping and Information Management:
- Develop approaches to track all LEADS-related communication and outreach.
- Compile information on LEADS communication and outreach to assist with continued event and storytelling planning.
- Assist with maintenance of the LEADS Activity Inventory.
Minimum Requirements
- A portfolio of work including studio experience and project-based contributions.
- Experience in customer service, operations, and creative production.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable working with students and UND employees from across the institution.
- Highly organized with attention to detail.
- Background in or evidence of accomplishment in standard communication strategies and/or writing for public audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new tools and systems.
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework in writing, editing, or communication strategies.
- Event planning experience.
