Purpose of Position
The philosophy of the Math Active Learning Lab (MALL) is centered around the idea that "math is not a spectator sport." A vital component of that philosophy, the purpose of the MALL tutor is to apply mathematical knowledge and interpersonal skills to provide "just-in-time" support to students enrolled in Intermediate Algebra (MATH 98), College Algebra (MATH 103), Precalculus (MATH 107), and Mathematics in Society (MATH 110), and to facilitate and encourage students' active participation in the learning process.

An annual raise of $0.25/hour is awarded to each tutor every year that they return to their position in the MALL.
This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist students during open lab time - (Essential)
- Proctor student exams - (Essential)
- Maintain content knowledge by regularly working through assigned problems in ALEKS - (Essential)
- Participate in regularly scheduled professional development training sessions - (Essential)
- Light cleaning duties, as required - (Secondary)
Minimum Requirements
- Undergraduate student at UND
- Have successfully completed Calculus I (MATH 165), or equivalent
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
- Have successfully completed a mathematics course within the last academic year
- Have completed at least one full year of collegiate coursework
- Are pursuing a degree in one of the following fields: Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics Education, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science
- Have taken courses in one or more of the following subjects: Set Theory & Logic, Discrete Mathematics, Probability & Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Finance
