Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Seeking one undergraduate research assistant in History to support a public facing digital humanities research project concerning the social history of the medieval Mediterranean. The undergraduate research assistant will gain hands-on experience and professional development while contributing to the conceptualization, execution, and publication of intercultural historical research.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Independant historical research in digital archival collections
  • Data collection and data entry using FileMaker Pro
  •  Independent and collaborative historical analysis 
  • Website design and maintenance 
  • Participation in weekly meetings with faculty project leader 

Minimum Requirements

  • History major who has successfully completed HIST 101 and HIST 301
  • experience conducting research in digital or physical archival collections
  • experience or demonstrated interest in public history
  • Successful completition of a criminal history background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • experience using medieval manuscript sources
    basic knowledge of Latin or other Romance languages
    experience in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and have experience or familiarity with data entry and database management
    If not a History major with the research training and experience listed above, applicants must demonstrate developing expertise in historical research.
