Purpose of Position
This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Setting up and installing microphones, lights, video monitors, projectors, speakers, and video cameras - (Essential)
- Meeting with Event Coordinators to discuss audio, lighting, and video requirements. - (Essential)
- Altering venue arrangements according to layout diagrams. - (Essential)
- Laying electrical and sound cables. - (Essential)
- Conducting sound, visual, and performance quality checks on AV equipment. - (Essential)
- Inspecting mountings and electrical equipment to ensure they conform to health and safety regulations. - (Essential)
- Operating sound and visual equipment during live events. - (Essential)
- Troubleshooting equipment and ensuring events run smoothly. - (Essential)
- Disassembling audio and visual equipment and packing up after the event. - (Essential)
- Monitor events. - (Essential)
- Execute emergency procedures (such as building evacuations or medical emergencies). - (Essential)
Minimum Requirements
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including both evenings and rotating weekends.
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
- Requires constant interaction with members of the university community and the general public.
- Requires tone of firm-friendliness to enforce the rules and mission of the department and work efficiently and effectively with patrons and building staff.
- Ability to conduct self in a manner that brings credit to the Memorial Union operations and the university.
- Ability to attend all mandatory Audio/Visual Assistant staff training and meetings.
- Ability to carry/move equipment/furniture/etc.
- Ability to work independently without close supervision.
- Willingness to ask questions.
- Ability to work with diverse groups.
- Ability to adapt to changing procedures and technologies.
- Ability to problem solve creatively and effectively.
- Ability to manage time and projects well.
