Purpose of Position
- Support the daily operations of the Rock Wall by promoting safe climbing practices and maintaining a clean, well-supervised environment.
- Assist with event planning, participant tracking, and equipment checks to ensure a positive and safe experience for all users.
- Uphold policies and actively engage in team meetings and trainings to support overall program success.
- This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise and support safe climbing practices during open hours and special events.
- Accurately tie, check, and verify climbing knots and equipment for safe use.
- Track participation and complete shift reports using facility management software.
- Assist with the planning, promotion, and execution of climbing events and competitions
- Maintain a clean and hazard-free climbing environment through regular inspections and sanitation tasks.
- Enforce safety, participant, and employee policies set by Team Wellness & Health Promotion.
- Attend required trainings and actively participate in team meetings.
- Wear PPE as required.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Basic knowledge of climbing techniques.
- Ability to teach effectively in one-on-one or group situations.
- Ability to push and pull 50 pounds of weight.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED, or ability to obtain within 2 weeks of hire. (Training provided by the Wellness Center at no cost for employees)
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of advanced rock climbing techniques and safe practices.
- Experience with outdoor, sport, lead, or traditional climbing.
- PCIA (Professional Climbers In America ) Certification or similar
