Purpose of Position

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of North Dakota seeks a full-time, non-tenure-track teaching assistant professor contingent on available funding.  

The Mathematics & Statistics Department is housed in the College of Arts & Sciences and currently offers a BS in Mathematics, MS and MEd in Mathematics, and MS in Applied Statistics.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful applicant will receive a contract with an approximate distribution of 95% teaching and 5% service effort.   • Teach 100- and 200-level undergraduate courses in mathematics, including on-campus (in-person) courses and term-based online courses 

  • Work collaboratively with other Mathematics & Statistics Department faculty to achieve consistent and high-quality learning environments

  • The ability to teach and inspire students
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students
  • Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the Department of Mathematics & Statistics
  • Competent in using technology and the ability to adopt new tools for both on-campus and online course delivery

Minimum Requirements

  • Earned M.S. in Mathematics by August 15, 2026
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level
  • Experience with teaching and course development for an online environment, especially using asynchronous delivery methods
