Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Help undergraduate students to become better independent learners by assisting them in the understanding of course material, academic skills building and answering questions. Support undergraduate students in examine their academic strengths and weaknesses and develop strategies that lead to academic success.

Duties & Responsibilities

  •  Greeting students and introducing resources in the Tutoring & Academic Success
  •  Assisting students in understanding course material
  •  Identifying strengths and areas of improvement regarding the content of the coursework 
  • Helping students develop core college success habits like time management, organization, and effective study strategies 
  • Answering student questions and guiding them through class assignments 
  • Conducting review sessions before exams 
  • Facilitate academic success workshops or group sessions
  • Completion of CRLA-certified tutoring training 
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and hours worked 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Tutor& Study Skills Support Coordinator

Minimum Requirements

  •  Must have taken one or more of the following courses: ACCT 200/201, EON 201/202/210, Finance 310, MGMT 301/310, BIO 150/151, BIMD 220/221, Chem 115/116/121/122/221, ENGR 201/202/203, Spanish 201/202
  • Proof of understanding of course material, evidenced by a minimum grade of B in the course
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
