Position Summary:

The Kramer School of Nursing invites applicants to apply for the position of Half-Time Clinical Instructor for the DNP Program.  Half-time faculty engage in teaching, scholarship, and service requirements equivalent to half that of a full-time faculty member.  Half-time faculty appointments are typically nine months and are ineligible for most university benefit plans and programs, but may participate in tuition remission on a limited basis as well as voluntary retirement contributions to the university's retirement plan.  

Minimum Education Requirement: 

  • Must have earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree (preferred) or be willing to obtain the degree within the first three years of employment.  
  • Must have an active, unencumbered RN license in the state of Oklahoma. 
  • Must hold current national certification as an advanced practice nurse in one of the following specialties: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). 

Minimum Work Experience

  • Evidence of current practice with at least two (2) years full-time equivalent practice as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting preceding the first date of first employment as faculty. 
  • Two (2) years of advanced practice nursing experience required. 
  • Both clinical and teaching experience preferred, but related professional credentials will be considered. 

Other: 

  • Preference for a dual-certified nurse practitioner (AGACNP/PMHNP or FNP/PMHNP). Will consider AGACNP or PMHNP with appropriate experience and credentials.

Description of Essential Job Functions (may include one or more of the following: 

  • Prepare and conduct courses in conformity with outcomes of the university, Kramer School of Nursing, and approving accrediting agencies  
  • Evaluate student learning, skills, and abilities; and maintain records of such evaluations 
  • Engage in scholarship that supports Kramer School of Nursing’s mission 
  • Serve as a resource person in areas of expertise and to other faculty and personnel of the community 
  • Act as a mentor to nursing students to promote excellence in academic and clinical practice. 
  • Serve the University and the Kramer School of Nursing, including committee work as appropriate 
  • Participate in professional organizations as a member 
  •  Adhere to all policies within the Oklahoma City University Faculty Handbook, KSN Employee Handbook, the OCU Student Handbook, and the KSN Student Handbook 
  • Participation in the OCU assessment program, and in student recruiting and retention efforts for KSN and the university 
  • Other duties as assigned
