The Opportunity
This is a fixed-term (12 month) role. Reporting to and working closely with the Director, Strategic Projects and Change Management, in this newly created Risk Lead role you will be responsible for delivering and promoting a proactive and integrated approach to enterprise risk management at UPA. You will apply your specialist knowledge and expertise in enterprise risk management to lead the implementation of UPA's Enterprise Risk Management Framework and associated systems. Building risk management capability across the organisation in terms of people, systems and governance, is a top priority for this role. You will be tasked with driving the continuous improvement of UPA's risk maturity to support the delivery of high-quality, safe, and person-centred care within a not-for-profit aged care context. Previous experience with Protecht or comparable enterprise risk management software is valued.
Duties will include (but not limited to):
- Lead ERM Framework Implementation: Drive the organisation-wide adoption and integration of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework at all levels.

ERM System Oversight: Manage the configuration, rollout, and continuous improvement of the ERM system, ensuring alignment with policies and procedures.

Governance Documentation: Develop and maintain risk governance documents, policies, and procedures in line with standards like ISO 31000.

Strengthen Risk Governance: Review and enhance risk governance structures, including committees and reporting mechanisms.

Support Business Continuity: Contribute to the development of business continuity plans and responses to enterprise-level risks.

Build Risk Capability: Design and deliver training to enhance risk awareness and capability across the organisation.

Promote Risk Culture: Foster a proactive risk culture through coaching, support, and integration of risk principles into daily operations.

Risk Operations & Reporting: Facilitate risk assessments, maintain the risk register, and report on risk trends and profiles to leadership.

Ensure Compliance & Improvement: Monitor compliance with legislation and standards, support audits, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Stay Informed & Flexible: Keep up with sector developments and undertake additional duties as required by leadership.

What you bring:
- Tertiary qualification in Risk Management, Business, Health Management, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing Enterprise Risk Management frameworks and systems, preferably within aged care, health, or human services.
- Demonstrated experience as a functional lead or key stakeholder in the implementation and management of an ERM system.
- Strong understanding of risk management principles, methodologies, and standards (e.g., ISO 31000).
- Experience in developing and delivering risk management training and building organisational capability.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and prepare comprehensive reports.
- Proven ability to lead change, influence stakeholders, and foster a positive risk culture.
- Exceptional communication (written, verbal, presentation), interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- High-level organisational skills with a proven ability to manage competing priorities and complex projects.
- Experience in conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) or similar incident investigation methodologies.
