General Information:
The School of Art, Design, and Art History (SADAH) seeks an enthusiastic and innovative individual for the Assistant Professor of Art in Printmaking and Expanded Media position in the Studio Art Program, teaching in and overseeing the comprehensive curriculum and facilities for the Printmaking and Expanded Media Area. We seek a candidate who wishes to participate in a collaborative community that fosters independent expression and creativity, embraces knowledge of contemporary art in diverse cultural contexts, and cultivates inclusive excellence in the making and understanding of Printmaking and Expanded Media.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will teach a 3/3 course load that includes the methods and materials of traditional printmaking, including relief, intaglio, lithography, and screen printing for introductory, intermediate, and advanced students. We seek candidates who can develop and teach courses incorporating their expertise in printmaking with expanded media, which may cover experimental aspects of computational imaging, extended reality, and/or other intermedia or multi-disciplinary approaches. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity to teach within the collaborative M.F.A. graduate program, design special-topics courses, and to work within the Studio Art program’s new “spine curriculum” that includes Professional Practices and a Senior Capstone.
The position is a full-time, tenure-track academic appointment. Alongside teaching, other expectations will include facilities oversight, budget management, curriculum development, continued engagement in professional and research activities, and active participation in departmental and college-wide service initiatives. To participate in our collaborative community, there is an expectation that the successful candidate will be on campus and available to students during the academic year and serve the program and school. We are especially interested in candidates who demonstrate commitment to building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
•M.F.A. in Printmaking or relevant field.
•Significant expertise in Printmaking and Expanded Media.
•Teaching experience at the college level.
•Evidence of an active and emerging exhibition record.
•Demonstrated commitment towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
•A thorough knowledge of contemporary art practices in diverse cultural contexts.
•Curriculum development experience at the college level.
•Professionally active with a record of creative achievement that may include outstanding exhibitions, curatorial projects, conference presentations or publications.
•Experience with oversight of printmaking and expanded media facilities and budgeting.
