General Information:

James Madison University (JMU) invites applications for the Director of Clinical Education for our Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) program within the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD). The Director of Clinical Education's duties will include responsibility for daily clinical coordination and management of the JMU CSD Speech-Language Clinic. Competitive pay and excellent benefits. This is a full-time, 12-month, renewable term appointment at the rank of Lecturer.

The desired start date is June 25, 2025. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee and coordinate clinical experiences for residential graduate students, both on-campus and off-campus, including externships
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships within JMU and the surrounding community
• Oversee the successful matriculation of students ensuring all residential graduate students meet program and accreditation standards
• Represent the JMU Speech-Language Clinic at the departmental, college, and university levels
• Teach courses in the candidate’s area of content expertise
• Engage in clinical education and provide supervision as appropriate

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related area
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical education/supervision
• Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
• Eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of Virginia

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in a higher education setting
• Strong leadership in clinical operations and strategic planning
• Excellent collaborative and flexible approach to problem-solving
• Detail-oriented with a high degree of organizational skill
• Effective communicator with a demonstrated ability to manage daily clinical operations
• Experience in supporting clinical educators in Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) and Evidence-Based Education (EBE) implementation
