General Information:
Card Services is accepting applications for an Assistant Database Manager. This position will support the Database Manager with maintaining an accurate database at all times to assist in analyzing reports and providing services to the JMU community. They will also ensure accurate electronic access permissions are maintained by performing audits for all departmental users.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Complete Card Services download from PeopleSoft into the CS Gold database daily
* Serve as primary point of contact for Conference Services - set up and generate all conference card requests
* Serve as primary contact for all departments needing specialty cards/early arrivals
* Process patron refunds including SV&C and meal plans
* Assist with maintaining the CS Gold Database by monitoring and activating/inactivating all patron records of faculty, staff, affiliates, contractors, etc. as appropriate
* Serve as backup to the Database Manager to ensure up to date and accurate recordings, including troubleshooting issues to patron records
* Assist Database Manager with inventory, maintenance records, billing and purchasing of all point of sale and card reader equipment used with the CS Gold System
* Prepare and send weekly dining reports to Aramark
* Serve as Departmental Access Coordinator by ensuring all audit reports and access request forms are completed and accurate. Includes granting access flags to requesting departments. Must comply with university policies.
* Keep departmental policy and procedures manuals updated
* Maintain accurate and up to date departmental calendar
* Assist in updates to the website
* Primary contact for One Book updates
* Assist Customer Service office during peak times (semester start up, orientation, etc.) with sales, refunds, financial responsibilities, as well as any other needs
* Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
* Advanced level of communication skills, both oral and written
* Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to recognize and analyze problems while solving them in a timely manner and adhering to university and federal guidelines
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and the ability and willingness to learn and adapt to new hardware and software on a regular basis
* Ability to work with diverse personalities including university personnel, parents, students, vendors
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to multi-task and prioritize several time-sensitive projects
* Excellent attention to detail (history of detailed record keeping)
Additional Considerations:
* Experience with PeopleSoft Student Administration and query language (including SQL) is a plus
