General Information:
The office of First-Generation Student Success Center advocates for and supports students who are the first in their family to attend college. The center, which includes the named student space for Angela and Carl Reddix, offers workshops and programming throughout the academic year in partnership with JMU offices and the larger community. The office seeks a part-time administrative professional to support the administrative unit operations and provide support to the Executive Director. The position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills who can effectively manage various administrative tasks, collaborate effectively, and provide excellent customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support administrative operations in the Centennial Scholars office and Reddix Center. This may include budget management and fiscal reconciliation responsibilities.
- Admissions support: Manage data and communications related to Centennial Scholars program acceptance.
- Maintaining academic records and reporting on program requirements.
- Departmental purchasing and travel: Complete departmental purchasing and maintain related records. Process travel requests and reimbursements.
- Provide direct support to the Executive Director for the First-Generation Student Success Center, assisting with scheduling, reporting, and initiative planning.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of unit goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Demonstrated ability to learn and follow policies and procedures
- Experience with bookkeeping, meeting auditing standards, budgeting

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
This is a part-time wage position working up to an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.
