General Information:
JMU Marketing and Branding is searching for a student photography assistant for the 2025 - 2026 academic year. This paid internship on the Enrollment Marketing team is an exciting opportunity for a student to grow their photography skills in a professional marketing environment. This position has a 10-hour per-week commitment during the Fall and Spring academic semesters. The photography assistant will coordinate, produce, and deliver photography content that is consistent with the JMU Brand, aligns with university goals, and is targeted to inspire constituents to more deeply engage and invest in the university.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- I understand it is my responsibility to accurately complete, sign, and submit timesheets to my supervisor each pay period. I also understand this is a condition of employment and after two consecutive time periods (1 month) of not submitting timesheets, I could be terminated from my position.
- Coordinate, produce, and/ or direct the development of photography content for digital, print, social media, and other delivery channels in support of university goals.
- Provide general support and onsite photo support for priority initiatives.
- Respond to photo assignments and project requests in a prompt, professional manner.
- Assist the Director of Enrollment Marketing, Photo and Video Production Manager, and Photo and Video Producers on other projects as necessary.
- Complete post-production and editing of photo content in a timely, efficient manner using Adobe Lightroom
- Assign relevant keywords and tags to image metadata.
- Maintain and update the University Photography archive.
- Other duties assigned by the JMU Photography and Video Production Team
Qualifications:
Applicants must have prior photography experience with DSLR or mirrorless cameras and a basic understanding of processing photos using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.

Conditions of Employment:
Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.
