General Information:

We are seeking a highly motivated Graduate Assistant to help manage our LinkedIn Recruiter efforts. In this role, you will have opportunities to utilize LinkedIn Recruiter to source, engage, and support our efforts to attract top talent for JMU. You will assist HR Recruitment as we manage LinkedIn job postings, perform targeted candidate searches, and initiate outreach to potential candidates.

This position will also be responsible for creating and managing social media content to promote employment opportunities and highlight JMU as an employer of choice.

Additionally, the Graduate Assistant will assist our Dual Career and Community Resources Program which provides essential support to new and prospective JMU employees and their families. The program offers support ranging from information about community resources and organizations to assisting relocating spouses/partners of new employees with their job search.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Utilize LinkedIn Recruiter to search for and identify potential candidates based on job
requirements.
- Use searches, filters, and other LinkedIn Recruiter tools to refine candidate searches.
- Follow up with candidates to maintain interest and guide them through the application process.
- Submit and manage job postings on LinkedIn.
- Track and report on key metrics related to recruiting efforts on LinkedIn.
- Maintain accurate records of candidate interactions and progress in the recruitment process.
- Participate in Recruitment Team meetings and provide insights based on LinkedIn data.
- Develop engaging social media content (posts, images, videos) that showcases employment opportunities at JMU.
- Assist with creating and implementing strategies to increase overall reach on social media platforms.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of candidate information.
- Assist with research and creation of resources for the Dual Career and Community Resources Program.

 

Qualifications:

- Must be a current JMU graduate student as of August 2025
- Must be able to work 20 hours per week during the semester
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with candidates
- Understanding of social media platforms and trends.
- Creative mindset with the ability to produce visually appealing content.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing candidate information and job postings
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities efficiently
- Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information

Conditions of Employment:  

Students may apply to a graduate assistantship prior to being accepted into a graduate program. However, to be eligible to receive an assistantship upon entry into a graduate program, the following criteria must be met:

The student must be conditionally or unconditionally accepted into a graduate program. Students who are provisionally accepted will not be eligible until they achieve conditional or unconditional acceptance into their program.

The students must have an official transcript on file indicating completion of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution or agency

After receiving an assistantship, the student must maintain at least a 3.0 graduate GPA in order to retain or reapply for the assistantship.

These are minimum criteria. Graduate program coordinators have the right to impose additional criteria if they see fit.
