General Information:
James Madison University’s Office of Human Resources is accepting applications for a part-time Recruitment and Employment Services Assistant. This position is responsible for providing a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers as well as administrative support to the Recruitment and Employment Services team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This position works closely with the HR Onboard Specialists and Recruitment Specialists by:
- Providing assistance with the recruitment process to internal and external customers via phone, email and in person
- Assisting applicants with the online application process
- Supporting special Recruitment and Employment Services Team projects, initiatives and events, such as Connections Day, Job Fairs, etc.
- Providing additional general administrative and clerical support for other HR functions on an as needed basis
- Tracking reference letters that are received, scanning them, and following up on references that are not received
- Running reports in a timely manner and ensuring data is accurate
- Scanning documents into an electronic filing system
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have:
- Demonstrated excellent administrative practices and procedures
- Strong interpersonal skills, customer service experience and the proven ability to build strong working relationships
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Qualities such as professionalism and adaptability
- The ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task
- Demonstrated typing and data entry skills and computer knowledge in a Windows based environment, preferably Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- The ability to manage confidential and sensitive information

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
This is a part-time wage position working up to an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.
