General Information:
James Madison University’s Facilities Management is accepting applications for a 12-month CDL driver (Institutional Chauffeur). This position is responsible for ensuring university programs have an effective means of transportation to and from scheduled events including shuttle for airport runs, campus program shuttle for special events, and all university functions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs professional driving duties on in-state and out-of- state trips as needed.
- Is responsible for accurate pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT requirements.
- Ensures vehicles have been properly cleaned and serviced for trips.
- Ensures trips are planned for the most efficient routing.- Keeps an accurate travel log
- Responsible for maintaining safe driving actions and avoiding collisions with other objects
- Required to maintain proper uniform dress code
Provide trip information for proper software data collection.
- Working knowledge of trip scheduling software.
- Annual training on software updates.
Maintains open, honest, courteous, respectful, and positive work relationships with associates both inside and outside the work unit.
Qualifications:
•Strong customer service skills
• Good driving record with a commercial driver’s license with passenger endorsement to drive vehicles with 16+ passengers, and a current medical examiner’s certificate.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule and work well with faculty and students
•Extensive experience driving coaches/buses
• Must also possess working knowledge and experience in:
- bus/coach operations.
- general knowledge of coach and bus components.
- knowledge of trip routing, managing trip logs, and detailed reporting.
• Availability on weekdays and weekends, including days, evenings, and nights.
