General Information:

The School of Nursing at James Madison University is accepting applications for part-time adjunct clinical instructors to teach in-person undergraduate nursing clinical and laboratory courses during the academic year. Instruction may occur during daytime, evening, and weekend hours depending on program needs. This position is not eligible for benefits.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Candidates may teach across a variety of undergraduate nursing specialty areas, including but not limited to medical-surgical nursing, older adult health, women’s health, child health, psychiatric-mental health nursing, and community/public health nursing. Responsibilities include supervising and evaluating students in clinical and laboratory settings and collaborating with course faculty to support student learning and course outcomes.

 

Qualifications:

Active RN licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Candidates must hold either a bachelor’s degree in nursing with specialty certification or a master’s degree in nursing. A doctoral degree in nursing or a related field is preferred.

Recent clinical practice experience is required. Previous undergraduate clinical teaching experience is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate professionalism, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering an welcoming learning environment. Selected candidates must be able to meet all university and clinical agency compliance requirements.
