General Information:

The JMU Event Management Student Content Strategist will support EM by creating and sharing content that promotes events across campus. This position requires candidates to be self-motivating, creative and detail-oriented.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work will include writing copy, editing, content strategy, brand messaging as well as the practical side of content management -- publishing and formatting content in the EMS calendar.

Will work closely with event sponsors and other calendar managers to clarify and improve calendar content and filtering.

Will curate events as they are posted to the Master Calendar by evaluating the details, adding images, featuring events and with approving or rejecting for publishing.

Review published events and feeds to confirm that details are accurate and complete. Submit or make corrections to booking details. Work closely with schedulers and sponsors.

Review, compare and create events in Master Calendar for Athletics, Arboretum, Planetarium and others not currently scheduling in EMS.

Understand the impact on university image, marketing and operational impact of proper use and publishing with Master Calendar.

• Organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• The ability to work independently, while also contributing effectively as part of a team.

Conditions of Employment:  

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
