    The Department of Health Sciences in the College of Health and Behavioral Studies at James Madison University offers an engaging and dynamic Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences curriculum. The Health Sciences major is a popular major at JMU with approximately 1500 total students declared and is designed for students interested in understanding the causes of disease, strategies for promoting health, wellness, and behavior change, and the scientific basis and methodologies for analyzing health for both individuals and populations. Upon degree completion, graduates are prepared for immediate employment in multiple allied health areas or a pathway to graduate studies in a variety of disciplines, including medicine, optometry, pharmacy, nursing, public health, physical rehabilitation, and other professional preparation programs. The successful candidate will join a strong and engaged faculty at one of the nation’s outstanding public universities.   • UCC Career Educator - IE in Harrisonburg

    The University Career Center’s mission is to “prepare and empower all students in every aspect of their career development.” We are seeking Career Educators for an 8/10 hour per week position. Career Educators (CEs) serve as a paid peer educator in the University Career Center (UCC). CEs are JMU students who have been trained to assist with a variety of areas in the career planning process. They have a strong understanding of the resources in the Career Center and can help guide students in the right direction based on their needs. Start Date: Spring 2026 (training for a few hours every week) Employment Term: Spring 2026–Spring 2027 We’re recruiting now so our new team can train in spring 2026 and be ready to hit the ground running next fall! Benefits of Becoming a CE: Career Educators learn, work, and develop professionally through program planning, facilitating small and large group presentations. Career Educators present career-related workshops to students through the Health 100 Passport Program and will lead small group presentations. Career Educators meet with students and alumni in a 1:1 setting to provide career-related support and guidance. Career Educators conduct resume and cover letter reviews, LinkedIn and Handshake appointments, and Career Fair Prep appointments. Career educators assist with large-scale UCC programming such as Career Fairs and other networking events. Career Educators participate in outreach to the campus community through weekly tabling outreach events Career Educators provide assistance to students and connecting them to other resources.

  • APRILab - IE in Harrisonburg

    Founded in 2022, the American Political Reform & Innovation Lab (APRILab) in the College of Arts and Letters is a nonpartisan, civic- and community-engaged political science and data science research lab. APRILab produces original, evidence-based research on institutional political reform in collaboration with internal and external social scientists and data scientists, and with leading experts in the national political reform advocacy community. The lab’s research addresses significant, real-world problems posed by institutional dysfunction, democratic backsliding, and unequal political influence. APRILab is seeking undergraduate and graduate lab associates to begin working in Fall 2022. The duties will require 5 to 20 hours per week depending on student qualifications, undergraduate or graduate status, and scheduling needs. This is a minimum one-semester appointment, with preference given to students who anticipate being eligible to continue for the full academic year and who have an interest in continuing one or more additional years. Students who identify themselves as a member of a traditionally marginalized population are especially encouraged to apply.
