The School of Media Arts and Design (SMAD) at James Madison University (JMU) invites applications for a Tenure Track Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning in August 2025. Inter-disciplinarily is a SMAD hallmark. SMAD’s distinctive undergraduate major has four concentrations: Creative Advertising, Digital Video and Cinema, Interactive Design, and Journalism. Each empowers students to use mass media as a vehicle for storytelling. SMAD provides one of the finest media production facilities in the country offering instructional workspaces for creating video, audio, graphics, animation, websites, and apps. Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) - Data Science in Harrisonburg
The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at James Madison University invites applications for one tenure-track position in data science at the assistant professor level to begin in August 2025. We are particularly interested in individuals whose research and teaching interests align with core areas of data science, such as data management, machine learning, predictive modeling, artificial intelligence, network analysis and graph theory, and natural language processing. The candidate will have the opportunity to help develop and deliver a data science major and graduate certificate within the department. James Madison University, located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, is an R2 state research university with an approximate enrollment of 22,000 students. Our energetic, collegial department has over 50 full-time faculty in pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, and mathematics education. Part-Time Program Support Assistant - Youth Programs and Lifelong Learning Institute in Harrisonburg
JMU’s School of Professional & Continuing Education collaborates with individuals, business, and communities through transformative educational programs and experiences. SPCE offers a range of programs, including youth camps, adult degree completion, professional and workforce development, and lifelong learning, as well as partners with academic units across JMU to support a number of online or off-campus degree and certificate programs. This part-time role will provide essential support to SPCE’s Youth Programs and the Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI). The ideal candidate will assist with a variety of programmatic, logistical, and administrative tasks to ensure the successful execution of events, courses, and activities across both programs. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

JMU invites applications for one tenure track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank in the Department of Social Work in the College of Health and Behavioral Studies (CHBS). The Department of Social Work offers a Bachelor of Social Work degree which is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. The Department is a thriving academic unit that offers multiple interprofessional educational (IPE) opportunities including two interdisciplinary minors: Nonprofit Studies and Family Studies (which has dual foci in family ecology and gerontology). The Department and College also collaborate with the Department of Justice Studies and College of Arts and Letters on a minor in Youth Justice and a new Innovation Center for Youth Justice. The BSW program has a long history of excellence, leadership in social work education, and continuous national accreditation.
