Tenure-Track Assistant/Associate Professor – Counselor Educator in Harrisonburg
The Counseling Programs at James Madison University are seeking an exceptional Counselor Educator to join the faculty in the Department of Graduate Psychology and serve as a core faculty member in our low-residency Counseling & Supervision Doctoral Program. In the low-residency model, students participate in a mix of synchronous and asynchronous online meetings with core faculty members as well as in-person residencies, held twice a semester in Harrisonburg, VA. Our counseling programs are comprised of three CACREP‐accredited programs including Clinical Mental Health Counseling MA/EdS, School Counseling MEd/EdS, and Counseling & Supervision PhD (https://psyc.jmu.edu/counseling/index.html). The full‐time (10 month), tenure track position, with options for summer teaching, will start in August, 2025, and will be filled at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

Nursing Faculty, Adult Health, Tenure Track in Harrisonburg

The School of Nursing (SON) offers CCNE accredited Baccalaureate, Master’s, and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs. Lecturer of Statistics (Renewable Term Appointment) in Harrisonburg
The Department of Mathematics & Statistics invites applications for a 10-month, promotable Lecturer position to begin in August 2025. This is a Renewable Term Appointment (RTA) that will be responsible for teaching general education statistics and mathematics classes. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in statistics and experience implementing innovative, student-centered teaching practices. Our engaged, collegial department is home to 55 full-time faculty in the areas of statistics, pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and mathematics education. Our programs are dedicated to providing meaningful learning experiences for majors and non-majors alike. We are a diverse and supportive faculty who value high-quality undergraduate education. We currently offer bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Statistics, including a concentration in Data Science, and minors in Mathematics, Statistics, Computational Analytics, and Mathematics for Elementary & Middle Grades Teachers. Scholarship and service in a variety of forms is respected across all areas in the department. We have a strong history of supporting undergraduate research and outreach efforts, including hosting a NSF-funded REU program, a large annual undergraduate research conference (SUMS), and an outreach conference to encourage STEM interest among middle school girls (madiSTEM). The department also houses the Center for Statistical Consulting that provides research and scholarship support to faculty, staff, and students across the campus and to external groups.

Assistant Professor: Computer Science-Information Technology Program (Two Positions) in Harrisonburg
The Department of Computer Science at James Madison University invites applications for two tenure-track or renewable term appointment (RTA) positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, to serve in the new Information Technology Major within the Department of Computer Science, to begin August 2025. The B.Sc. in Information Technology (IT) is one of the two undergraduate degrees offered by the Department of Computer Science (CS) at JMU. IT has a focus on computer networking, cyber security, web technologies, data science/machine learning and mobile development. The IT program accepted our first freshman class in Fall 2022, has more than 240+ students, and is rapidly growing. The IT major puts students in the middle of the IT revolution where they study the tools and methods deployed in the enterprise community in areas such as communication network, software defined network, information security and wireless networks. The JMU Computer Science Department is a dynamic and supportive community with 31 full-time faculty members and approximately 900 undergraduate students in the CS and IT majors. We also offer an online M.S. Degree in Computer Science concentration in Cyber-Security. Our supportive community is dedicated to maintaining a culture that balances excellence in teaching and small class sizes with opportunities for faculty and student research. Active clubs and organizations include TechLink, Women in Technology, Robotics, Forensics, Unix Club, Cyber Defense, and a student ACM chapter.
