Media Specialist in Harrisonburg
James Madison University’s Libraries is seeking a full-time Media Specialist to join the Media Production and Makerspace Services (MPMS) department. MPMS oversees spaces (including a Makerspaces: https://www.lib.jmu.edu/makery/ and Production Studio: https://www.lib.jmu.edu/media-production/) that are used to collaborate with the JMU community to create, explore, instruct, and problem-solve using cutting-edge technologies, multimedia equipment, workshops, and events. The Media Specialist will work with faculty, staff and students to enhance the teaching and learning experience of the JMU community by creating instructional media that can be used within courses and departments. This position conducts, manages, and assists with media production projects within the production studio spaces. They will also provide individual technical assistance and guidance to MPMS patrons in 1:1 appointments and studio spaces. The Media Specialist will also hire, supervise and organize training for 2-4 student employees. Those student employees will be expected to contribute to instructional media projects and support patrons using self-service video, audio, and photo equipment.
