The Department of Computer Science at James Madison University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to begin August 2026. We are committed to cultivating a welcoming environment for our faculty, staff, and students, and we value candidates who will be both impactful teachers and impactful scholars. Preference will be given to applicants at the Assistant Professor level. Exceptional candidates at the Associate Professor level will also be considered. The JMU CS department is a vibrant and supportive community with 33 full-time faculty members teaching in the Computer Science and Information Technology programs. The Computer Science program has approximately 700 undergraduate majors and 60 minors, as well as an online M.S. Degree in Cybersecurity with approximately 60 students. The IT program has approximately 250 majors. We are dedicated to supporting a culture that balances excellence in teaching, small class sizes, and opportunities for faculty and student research. The department sponsors many active clubs and organizations including Women in Technology, Robotics, Cyber Defense, and a student ACM chapter. The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at James Madison University invites applications for the position of Academic Unit Head (AUH) to begin July 1st, 2026. The position is a 12-month tenured faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor with a teaching load of 1-1. The department has 23 full-time faculty members engaged in diverse research programs across numerous subfields within Sociology and Anthropology, respectively. Faculty are also highly engaged in professional service at the university, local, national, and international levels. APRILab - IE in Harrisonburg
Founded in 2022, the American Political Reform & Innovation Lab (APRILab) in the College of Arts and Letters is a nonpartisan, civic- and community-engaged political science and data science research lab. APRILab produces original, evidence-based research on institutional political reform in collaboration with internal and external social scientists and data scientists, and with leading experts in the national political reform advocacy community. The lab’s research addresses significant, real-world problems posed by institutional dysfunction, democratic backsliding, and unequal political influence. APRILab is seeking undergraduate and graduate lab associates to begin working in Fall 2022. The duties will require 5 to 20 hours per week depending on student qualifications, undergraduate or graduate status, and scheduling needs. This is a minimum one-semester appointment, with preference given to students who anticipate being eligible to continue for the full academic year and who have an interest in continuing one or more additional years.
