    • Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Anthropology in Harrisonburg

      The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at James Madison University invites applications for a tenure-track position in anthropological archaeology at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2026. We seek a scholar-teacher committed to public engagement, student participation in research, and student professionalization. The ideal candidate will complement, rather than duplicate, existing departmental strengths and make active use of campus lab spaces and facilities to provide hands-on learning opportunities. Preferred qualifications include experience in the archaeology and/or historical archaeology of the eastern United States and a demonstrated commitment towards engaging multiple stakeholders. The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is a collegial body of 23 full-time faculty, 13 in Sociology and 10 in Anthropology. The Anthropology program is committed to four-field undergraduate teaching. Our faculty are active scholars at the national and international level and are dedicated to excellence in undergraduate education.

    • Operations and Administrative Specialist (Part-Time) in Harrisonburg

      Join the Operations Team of Faculty Success! We are inviting applications for a part-time Operations & Administrative Specialist position to assist our team in support of Faculty Success (FS) and the Center for Faculty Innovation (CFI) programs with duties related to general reception office duties, providing calendar management support, scheduled program support, assist with creating marketing material, assisting with website updates, assist with catering contracts and room reservations. • Part-time, 12-month wage position beginning in late September 2025. • Approximately 20-28 hours of work per week throughout the year. • Work hours are typically during business hours of 8am – 5pm. • Working on average 5-8 hours per weekday (Monday-Friday). • One-hour lunch break. • On-campus in-person position located in a reception "front" office environment setting.

    • Assistant or Associate Professor (Tenure Track) - Statistics in Harrisonburg

      The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at James Madison University invites applications for one tenure-track position in statistics at the assistant or associate professor level to begin in August 2026. We are particularly interested in candidates with interests or expertise in statistics with connections to data science and interdisciplinary research. Our energetic, collegial department is home to 57 full-time faculty in the areas of pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, and mathematics education. Our programs provide meaningful learning experiences for majors and non-majors alike, both within and outside of the classroom. We care about people and value high-quality undergraduate education. We currently offer bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Statistics, including a concentration in Data Science, and minors in Mathematics, Statistics, Computational Analytics, and Mathematics for Elementary & Middle Grades Teachers. Scholarship in a variety of forms is supported and valued across all disciplines represented in the department. We have a strong history of supporting undergraduate research and outreach efforts, including hosting a well-established NSF-funded REU program (started in 2002) and a large annual undergraduate research conference (started in 2005).

      The International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) team within the Center for Global Engagement (CGE) at James Madison University is seeking a full-time ISSS Coordinator to join our welcoming, collaborative office. This position is well-suited for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and motivated to support international students, scholars, and the staff who work with them. The ISSS Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring smooth daily operations by providing administrative, financial, and programming support. Working closely with CGE colleagues, international students and scholars, and campus partners, this position helps coordinate logistics and maintain processes that enhance the experience of JMU’s global community.

    • Facilitation Fellow - FWS in Harrisonburg

      The James Madison Center for Civic Engagement is hiring two Facilitation Fellows. These Fellows will be responsible for facilitating/moderating deliberative dialogues and campus civic discourse pluralism events. In addition, Fellows will learn the skills of facilitation, participate in weekly debrief sessions and ongoing program assessments, and support the Center’s other deliberation and dialogue programs. This is an opportunity for students interested in community problem solving, conflict mediation, dialogue, deliberation, and facilitation to develop a robust skillset in these areas while providing meaningful opportunities to peers.
