James Madison University is accepting applications for a Director of SexEdVA. This position will oversee three grant-funded projects related to sexuality education and teen pregnancy prevention that comprise SexEdVA: JMU Personal Responsibility Education program (JMUPREP), JMU Personal Responsibility Education Innovative Strategies (JMUPREIS) program, and Sexual Risk Avoidance Education program (SRAE). The role will also oversee one revenue-funded program, Vision of You. SexEdVA aims to ensure that young people across Virginia have access to sexual health information that is evidence-based, and medically accurate to make informed decisions regarding their health. SexEdVA seeks to advance health and education by addressing social determinants of health through programming for youth and quality training for the adults who work with them. SexEdVA’s mission is to support adolescent sexual health in Virginia communities through training and technical assistance, curriculum development, research, and advocacy. This is a grant-funded position. SexEdVA is one of many programs and clinics within the Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services (IIHHS). Director, Undergraduate Research & Creative Activity (JMU Only) in Harrisonburg

The Director of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity provides leadership for university-wide programs that expand student participation in undergraduate research and creative activity and oversees strategic initiatives including university-wide undergraduate research funding programs, student travel awards, research training, communications and storytelling, assessment, First-Year Research Experiences (FYRE), and institutional reporting. The Director will lead the establishment and development of JMU's university-wide infrastructure for undergraduate research and creative activity, translating institutional recommendations into a phased, evidence-based implementation plan. This will include the collection and analysis of institutional metrics, development of annual reporting processes, and promotion and visibility undergraduate research internally and externally. The Director will work collaboratively with colleges, departments, faculty mentors, institutional research partners, and external stakeholders in these efforts in advancing JMU's goal of making undergraduate research a distinctive component of the student experience.

This position provides counseling regarding financial aid applications, eligibility requirements, federal regulations, and available aid programs. The representative analyzes student aid information to support accurate awarding of federal and state financial aid, reviews verification documentation, assists with award adjustments, and supports professional judgment processing. This position also serves as Co-Manager of the Financial Aid departmental mailbox, ensuring timely and accurate communication with students, families, and campus partners. Additionally, the incumbent serves as the backup to the OnBase Lead/Document Manager, supporting document imaging, indexing, retrieval, and staff training. This position ensures the delivery of accurate, efficient, and compassionate customer service to students, families, and campus partners while supporting key financial aid operations. In addition to supervising Peer Counselors, this role coordinates recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management activities for student employees. The position also supports financial aid processing through verification review, professional judgment triage, award adjustments, document management, and loan processing support. The incumbent collaborates with local high schools and the James Madison University (JMU) community to deliver presentations and workshops promoting financial literacy and financial aid awareness.

Data Scientist, Student Success Analytics in Harrisonburg

Student Success Analytics (SSA) at James Madison University is accepting applications for a Data Scientist as part of its work toward leveraging data and technology for improving student success and retention. The Data Scientist is an applied analytics and research position focused on transforming student-success data into ethical, actionable evidence for institutional decisions. This position reports to the Director, works on a team within another data scientist and data engineer, and supports the strategic vision to achieve the highest level of data maturity that maximizes success outcomes for all students. The Data Scientist will help shape the design, collection, and use of data and data analytics to ensure student success and retention. JMU is in the middle of an enterprise-wide system modernization program, and this position has unique opportunities to shape the paths forward for data ethics, data analytics, and the use of data for student success and data-informed decision-making. This position will help lead efforts as the university moves forward in establishing a student success culture informed by data from the Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Learning Management Software (LMS), Student Information System (SIS), and other systems. The Data Scientist will work closely with Student Affairs, Planning, Analytics, & Institutional Research (PAIR), Information Technology, The Graduate School, the Libraries, and other departments. The person in this position would be joining at an exciting time as efforts are underway to build a knowledge community that develops and enhances expertise around how JMU will work toward a data maturity model that integrates data science into leadership decisions.
