Job Summary/Basic Functions

We're looking for a passionate individual to join our dynamic organization as Assistant Director of Alumni Programs. The Assistant Director of Alumni Programs is a member of the Advancement and Alumni Engagement team, reporting to the Director of Alumni Programs. The Assistant Director will develop and implement creative and focused programming for assigned alumni groups including the 1908 Society and those with family connections to UMW. The Assistant Director will serve as the primary liaison between the division and the Office of Career and Professional Development and implement joint programming to support students and alumni.

The Assistant Director will serve as the reunion committee coordinator, and manage assigned aspects of Reunion Weekend. In addition, they will create and implement programs through on-campus reunions and events, virtual programs, social media, and local and/or alumni network events. The Assistant Director successfully engages and collaborates with alumni, university staff, and students to offer dynamic and inclusive programs and events.

Required KSAs / Competencies / Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated proficiency and comfort level with MS Office applications in a business environment, especially word processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and comfort level with database systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and with multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Ability to coordinate and motivate groups of volunteers.
  • Excellent communication skills fostering positive relationships.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekend.

Required Experience:

  • Prior professional experience in a related field, such as higher education, nonprofit, customer service, or event coordination.

College degree or related coursework.
