Job Summary/Basic Functions

The University of Mary Washington, an NCAA Division III institution located in historic and vibrant Fredericksburg, VA, is seeking a full time Athletic Grounds Worker to service and maintain the Battleground Complex in a safe, neat, clean, and aesthetically pleasing manner. This position performs maintenance of the University's athletic complex but not limited to lining and setting-up playing fields for a variety of sports, and maintenance mowing, trimming, edging, aeration and seeding of turf using a variety of maintenance equipment, and performance of a wide variety of general grounds maintenance duties. Additionally, duties include operation of dump trucks, tractors and other vehicular and grounds maintenance equipment, performance of snow removal from steps, walks, roads, and parking lots using power or hand tools. Priority assignments for this position will focus on care and maintenance of the Rugby Pitch.

Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of methods and general procedures of applicable trade or grounds maintenance techniques.
  • Working skill in the use of equipment and tools.

Required Experience:

  • Experience in commercial/ professional ground keeping or related work.

 

Additional Considerations:

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Pesticide Applicators or technicians certificate and respirator certification.
