Job Summary/Basic Functions

The University of Mary Washington has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Power Plant Mechanic. The Power Plant Mechanic performs a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to steam boilers and Power Plant auxiliaries. The mechanic is abled to operate steam boilers on shift and keep accurate logs on all equipment. Please fill in.

Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of boilers and associated equipment, operations and procedures.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform corrective maintenance.
  • Ability to perform a variety of repairs and ensure proper preventative maintenance is completed according to scheduled timeframes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, supervisors, and other departments regarding maintenance needs and project status.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records of equipment readings, maintenance activities, and plant operations.
  • Completion of annual inspection and certification to reduce impact to campus operations.

 

Required Experience:

  • Experience with steam boilers and mechanical equipment.

EDUCATION

  • High School graduate or equivalent
