Position Summary

The Junior DBA is responsible for installing, maintaining, and securing database applications running on university or hosted servers. The Junior DBA will also work to provide systems that are reliable, responsive, and available for the users of which the applications serve. This will be an in-person position located in Evansville, IN. 

Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Specific Responsibilities
    • Banner Document Management (BDM) system
    • Ellucian DegreeWorks system
    • Evisions Higher Education software (FormFusion & Intellechek)
  • Assist in the administration, maintenance, and support Ellucian Banner ERP and other enterprise systems.

  • Manage and optimize document imaging systems to ensure efficient storage, retrieval, and processing of documents.

  • Support the degree planning system, ensuring data integrity and availability for academic planning and reporting.

  • Monitor database performance, implement performance tuning, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

  • Assist with upgrading and patching of enterprise systems.

  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure seamless integration and functionality of database systems.

  • Provide technical support and training to end-users as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer information systems with a minimum of one-year related experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.

  • Experience working with middleware technologies like Tomcat and/or Apache.

  • Experience with Database Management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server

  • Experience working Linux Bash scripting

  • Strong knowledge of both Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems server environments

  • Knowledge of API integration methods

  • Attention to detail and timely follow up skills.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and professional manner dealing with faculty, staff, students, and vendors.

Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements

  • In-person position located in Evansville, IN. 
  • Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.
  • Occasional off-hours or irregular hours required including routine application maintenance and /or unexpected application outages.
  • On-call availability to ensure applications are available at all time. Primary contact for 24-hour emergency application response.
  • Occasional travel may be required for vendor training or to other institutions.
