Position Summary
The Associate Director of Athletic Communication supports the promotion and visibility of USI’s 19 NCAA Division I varsity programs through strategic media relations, digital content creation, and brand aligned communication. Working alongside the Director of Athletic Communication, this role produces written, visual, and multimedia content; manages website and statistical updates; coordinates game day media operations; and serves as a primary communications contact for assigned sports. The position oversees social media strategy, assists with ESPN+ broadcasts and staff oversight, and collaborates with campus partners to enhance fan engagement and strengthen the overall USI Athletics brand.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Serve as point of contact to ensure social media content meets University style guidelines and brand standards.
- Assist in the oversite of Athletic Communication staff.
- Assists with graphic design and production of athletic publications.
- Serve as the secondary contact for Audio/Visual for all athletic events in Liberty Arena.
- Responsible for scheduling baseball, soccer and softball game day press box personnel.
- Will work closely with Director of Athletic Marketing and Fan Engagement to produce engaging public address game scripts for assigned sports.
- Manage and update USIScreamingEagles.com.
- Update and archive rosters, statistics, and records.
- Write game stories and news releases.
- Produce official notes for media and broadcasting purposes.
- Create and post content to social media channels.
- Assist with maintaining the athletics photo library.
- Coordinate interview requests and media relations.
- Serve as primary contact for several varsity sports as assigned.
- Generate additional feature content, photography, and video to promote awareness, engagement, and interest.
- Assist in the collection and dissemination of statistics, utilizing NCAA LiveStats, StatCrew, and/or Presto Sports.
- Assist with USI’s ESPN+ productions and Athletics’ multi-media products. Assist with all additional live video streams not on ESPN+.
- Participate in annual continuing education as required by the NCAA, Conference and/or Institution is required.
- Adhering to all NCAA, Conference, and Institutional rules and regulations is required at all times. All violations must be reported to the Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Director of Compliance or their designee immediately.

Required Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in sports communication or a related field.
- 4-5 years of experience in intercollegiate athletics or professional sports. Work as a graduate assistant or undergraduate may be considered.
- Knowledge of trends in the industry, and techniques and principles of writing, publication, and graphic design.
- Knowledge of various multimedia editing software programs.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and the latest trends and best practices for multimedia applications.
- Basic knowledge of collegiate athletic media relations practices and operations.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, InDesign, and Bridge/Lightroom. Experience with Premiere, Audition, and After Effects is a plus.
- Experience with photo and video cameras. Position requires considerable initiative, creativity, and independence.
- Evidence of strong communication skills.

Functional Requirements
- Remaining in a stationary position at a desk or workstation for extended periods of time (the majority of the workday) for the majority of assigned duties.
- The use of computers and computer systems to add content to the website, to retrieve and process information, and to write copy for news releases, publications, and online and print materials.
- Occasional physical access to presentations and events that occur at on-campus sites, such as classrooms and meeting rooms, and at various sites throughout the local and regional community.
- Occasional physical manipulation or transport of display boards, literature racks, and TV equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Effective problem solving and the presentation of a professional demeanor while meeting deadlines and achieving critical outcomes, even under demanding conditions such as multiple priorities and short-notice deadlines.

Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements
- Standard office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Occasional evenings and weekends may be required during periods of high workload.
- Travel may occasionally be required for attendance at sporting events.
- Working holidays may be required.
