Job Overview:
The Saratoga Stall Coordinator works alongside the Manager, Stable Area and Sr. Director, Racing Operations on all aspects of stabling operations at Saratoga Race Course while the stable area is open. This includes but is not limited to the assignment of barns and stalls, organizing barn and stall reports for racing, stewards’ and veterinarian’s offices, collecting and transmitting equine health documents, communicating barn area maintenance needs with the facilities department, assisting with horse inventory, and coordinating the equine shuttle between Saratoga and Belmont. This position is also responsible for working with the NYRA security department to maintain a safe barn area for all horses and licensees to participate. The Saratoga Stall Coordinator will also be a point of contact when business needs require a USDA quarantine for international horses traveling to compete at NYRA. The Saratoga stall coordinator will also assist with the transition between auxiliary stall periods and the summer meet.
This position could require some traveling between Saratoga and Belmont Park as business needs dictate.
Essential Functions:
- Work with stall office and racing department to ensure trainers are stabled in assigned barns and stalls
- Manage assignments of offices and tack rooms
- Work with security and racing office to collect and organize equine health documents, especially Coggins tests upon arrival
- Coordinate barn and stall reports for use by various NYRA offices on or before race day
- Obtain daily count of horses by trainer for billing purposes
- Create spreadsheets of horses arriving and departing the property (“ins and outs”)
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized barn area by working on maintenance needs with facilities, including submitting work orders are completed in a timely manner
- Coordinate logistics and keep shipping logs of horses traveling on NYRA shuttle
- Manage USDA quarantine needs
- Work with veterinary team to manage any biosecurity issues that might arise
- Ability to assist with setting up stakes stalls and help with receiving and assembly barns if needed
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least 5 years working with horses or in a racetrack stable area environment
- Ability to get licensed by New York State Gaming Commission
Summary of Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Works outside and in barn areas as well as office functions.
Pay Range / Salary: $27.00 - $28.00
