Job Overview:
Belmont Park is seeking a highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and results-driven Sales Manager, Venue Sales & Live Events to lead the sales and development of non-racing event business at Belmont Park. This newly created position will be responsible for generating revenue through the booking and execution of weddings, corporate events, concerts, festivals, sporting events, community activations, and other large-scale entertainment properties.
The Sales Manager will play a pivotal role in establishing Belmont Park as a premier year-round destination for live events, hospitality experiences, and special events. This individual will identify new business opportunities, cultivate strategic partnerships, negotiate event agreements, and collaborate cross-functionally to maximize venue utilization and revenue generation.
Success in this role requires a blend of business development expertise, venue sales experience, relationship management, and strategic thinking.
Essential Functions:
Event Sales & Business Development
• Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to generate event rental revenue from across all Belmont Park venues and event spaces.
• Prospect, solicit, and secure new business opportunities including weddings and social events, corporate meetings, conferences, and retreats; concerts and music festivals; Sporting events and exhibitions; community events and cultural festivals, industry trade shows and specialty events
• Build relationships with promoters, event organizers, agencies, sports properties, production companies, and hospitality partners.
• Identify opportunities to attract marquee national and international events, including large-scale sporting and entertainment properties.
• Generate leads through networking, industry engagement, direct outreach, and strategic partnerships.
Venue & Event Management
• Serve as the primary sales contact throughout the event booking lifecycle.
• Conduct venue tours and client presentations.
• Develop event proposals, pricing packages, and revenue models.
• Negotiate contracts and event terms in collaboration with legal, finance, and venue operations teams.
• Ensure seamless transition from sales to event execution through collaboration with operational stakeholders.
Strategic Planning
• Develop short- and long-term business plans to maximize year-round utilization of Belmont Park assets.
• Monitor industry trends and competitive venues to identify new revenue opportunities.
• Assist leadership in developing annual revenue forecasts and business objectives.
Partnership & Relationship Management
• Establish and maintain relationships with:
o Event planners
o Wedding coordinators
o Corporate decision-makers
o Convention and tourism organizations
o Concert promoters
o Sports governing bodies
o Entertainment agencies
• Represent Belmont Park at industry events, conferences, networking opportunities, and trade shows.
Revenue & Reporting
• Consistently achieve and exceed established revenue goals.
• Maintain accurate records of sales activity, pipeline management, and forecasting within CRM systems.
• Prepare regular reports on sales performance, market activity, and business development opportunities.
• Track and analyze key performance indicators to maximize profitability and event growth.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 5 years of sales, venue booking, event sales, hospitality sales, sports business, or related business development experience.
• Proven track record of generating significant event-related revenue.
• Experience negotiating contracts and managing complex sales processes.
• Strong presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
• Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience selling stadiums, arenas, racetracks, convention centers, entertainment venues, or hospitality properties.
• Existing relationships within the event promotion, sports, entertainment, or hospitality industries.
• Experience securing large-scale events involving multiple stakeholders and operational departments.
• Knowledge of sponsorship, hospitality, premium experiences, and event monetization strategies.
Summary of Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
This role is primarily sedentary and performed in an office or office-like environment with no special physical demands required. The position involves extended periods of sitting with intermittent standing and walking, as well as occasional bending, reaching, and other routine movements typical of a professional workplace.
The role requires regular hand manipulation, including daily typing and repetitive hand movements while working on a computer. Occasional light lifting (generally up to 10 lbs., and infrequently up to 30 lbs.) may be required.
The work environment does not typically expose the employee to hazardous conditions. There is minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as moving mechanical parts, fumes, extreme weather, or high-risk work areas. Pay Range / Salary: $81,000 - $99,500
