Department Summary UNT’s Department of Communication Studies is a collegial and growing scholarly community with strong traditions in three areas: interpersonal, digital, and organizational communication, rhetorical studies, and performance studies. The department maintains an undergraduate major with an enrollment around 400 students and a master’s degree program of 20-25 students, and attracts students from the college’s interdisciplinary studies program. The department is committed to broader university initiatives aimed at supporting students as well as rigorous research culture. |
Position Overview The Department of Communication Studies at the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in performance studies to start in Fall 2025. We seek a scholar-artist whose research explores the intersections between digital performance and storytelling, who is prepared to supervise master’s students, conduct graduate courses, and teach at the undergraduate level. A PhD in communication studies or terminal degree in a closely related field is required at the time of appointment. |
