Department Summary

HSC Health is the academic clinical practice of the Health Science Center, where quality care meets quality education. HSC Health primary and multispecialty care offices are located on the HSC, Denton and Dallas UNT System campuses, focusing on improving health outcomes to build healthier communities. Care includes mobile health initiatives and extends to hospitals, surgery centers, long-term/continuing care centers, and in-home care. HSC Health’s interprofessional teams work collaboratively to achieve an optimized treatment plan tailored to the individual patient.

Physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, specialized technicians, nurses and more work together while intentionally integrating healthcare students, residents, and fellows to deliver care to our community.

Position Overview

HSC Health Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) provides high-quality healthcare to children from infancy through adolescence. This role focuses on delivering comprehensive assessments, managing care plans, and offering preventive health education to support the wellness of our pediatric patients and their families.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree and five (5) years related experience, must have graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program, or an accredited Graduate Nursing Program, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to obtain a Texas Physician Assistant License, Advance Practice Registered Nurse License, Nurse Practitioner
Ability to practice medicine within the scope of license, training, and credentials
Ability to care for a diverse patient population

Preferred Qualifications

Current Texas licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with a focus on pediatric or family practice.
Experience in pediatric healthcare or a commitment to providing specialized care to children and adolescents.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support effective interactions with patients, families, and the care team.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Texas PA License or APRN

Job Duties:

  • Conduct and document comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations tailored to each patient’s age, developmental stage, and diagnosis.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate patient-centered care plans, including managing acute and chronic conditions and performing routine pediatric check-ups. 
  • Order, interpret, and act upon diagnostic tests, including laboratory work, imaging, and other relevant studies. 
  • Provide patient management, counseling, referrals, and health education to patients, families, and caregivers, with a focus on preventive care and wellness. 
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver coordinated and holistic care.
