Department Summary

The Office of Institutional Integrity and Awareness (formerly known as the Office of Institutional Compliance and Integrity) creates an integrity-based approach that combines compliance with an emphasis on responsibility for ethical behavior. This includes making values-driven choices that are rooted in the HSC Values and Code of Culture. The office has oversight and management of HSC’s Compliance Program, which includes policies, clinical compliance, compliance education and training, privacy, investigations, Integrity Framework, conflict of interest, and Code of Culture.

Position Overview

The Compliance Operation Specialist within the OIIA is responsible for overseeing the policy life cycle process from start to finish and maintaining the case management system for compliance investigations under the direction of the Director of Compliance Operations. Their role is to promote understanding and awareness of the HSC Trust Line and support the development of HSC Policies and Procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 (three) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 (three) years prior experience in compliance program standards, case management, and internal investigation process.
  • Minimum of 3 (three) years prior experience with policy development, management, coordination, or equivalent experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency with Windows-based email and other standard office applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and similar programs.
  • Ability to develop analytics from multiple data streams, interpret trends, develop persuasive recommendations, and present information to varied audiences.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and collaborate with all levels of team members, including executives and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrate the utmost discretion and confidentiality, including maintenance of confidential information.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interviewing and research skills and proficiency in using technology to compile clear and concise investigative reports according to established procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of compliance-related disclosure/resolution systems, data analysis, and reporting design.
  • Ability to deliver information effectively in a variety of settings, including one-on-one, team settings, presentations, and various written forms such as letters, memos, analytical reports, and decision documents.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend practical and effective solutions.

Job Duties:

  • Manages the reporting hotline and internal investigation process. Triage and escalate reported non-compliance concerns to the appropriate department following internal investigation protocol. 
  • Ensures that investigations follow the resolution process and are lawfully and objectively conducted while thoroughly gathering pertinent information that accurately accounts for the non-compliance concern 
  • Prepares compliance data for analysis and reporting and assists the Director of Compliance Operations in conducting trend analysis and identifying new and improved methods of analytics for reporting. 
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders and policy owners to develop, review, and update HSC policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. 
  • Coordinate and manage the policy administrative process with the Policy Committee, policy owners, Office of General Counsel, and other key stakeholders. 
  • Maintain the compliance policies and procedures system to ensure accessibility.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations to assess the impact on existing policies and recommend adjustments as necessary. 
  • Provide assistance, guidance, and support for other compliance program initiatives as requested by the Director of Compliance Operations.
