Department Summary

The Office of Academic Affairs supports the academic mission of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM). Our team is responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of the Osteopathic medical degree program. We work closely with faculty, staff, and students to develop an ever-improving learning environment through faculty development, curricular innovation, and assessment.

Position Overview

This position supports TCOM educational programs and activities from a computer, technical, and audio/video perspective. This position focuses support for the first and second years of TCOM by preparing computers for use, recording class sessions, editing and uploading sessions to online learning platforms, and assisting faculty and staff with computer and technology related issues in large classroom, small group, and other course settings. Additionally, there should be collaboration with course directors, faculty, staff, and course coordinators in scheduling and implementing curricular events. Additionally, this position will assist with the tracking, distribution, and return of any technology products provided to students. Comfort and familiarity with A/V equipment, microphones, projectors, learning management platforms, and basic computer support are expected.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and one (1) year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Duties:

  • Oversee the daily performance of computer systems. 
  • Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems. 
  • Enter commands and observe the system functioning to verify correct operations and detect errors. 
  • Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software. 
  • Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
  • Participate in the capture of new knowledge and solutions. 
  • Document and track each customer interaction from initial contact through closure. 
  • Determine the best solution for each inquiry, issue or request by applying and / or adapting existing knowledge and best practices. 
  • Utilize existing support tools, techniques and methodology.

M-F 8-5pm Occasional weekend hours as needed
