Department Summary

The Office of University Assessment and Accreditation (UAA) leads HSC Fort Worth in ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements. We do this by assisting the institution, colleges, and departments with their accreditation needs through:
Familiarizing faculty, staff, and students with the accrediting policies, procedures, and standards.
Involving faculty, staff, and students comprehensively in the evaluation and planning of accreditation activities.
Serving as a resource for information, policies, procedures, and standards related to SACSCOC and THECB.
Assisting units with programmatic accreditation through: ensuring self-studies address the standards, providing institutional data, information, and narratives, aiding in the organization, planning, and management of accreditation activities.

Position Overview

The Director of Accreditation leads the implementation of highly visible institutional processes with responsibility for specialty areas required for the development and analysis of educational accreditation, assessment, accountability or processes at the institutional, school and department levels. This position works on cross functional projects in partnership with diverse stakeholders within the division and throughout the institution, and performs a large coordination role, gathering and evaluating information from university wide stakeholders and ensuring quality standards. The Director of Accreditation is responsible for reinforcing the university's policies and educational goals by directing and overseeing the development, implementation, and administration of the university's Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) as well as supporting all respective school/colleges programmatic accreditation initiatives. Responsible for preparing and submitting all applications, notifications, and related documents to SACSCOC, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), and other state/federal agencies. This position supports the Assistant Vice Provost of Assessment and Accreditation with accreditation leadership in support of strategic initiatives, decision-making, and policy formation at the departmental and institutional levels. The Director may provide supervision, coaching, and mentoring to professional staff members within their area of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and seven (7) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Masters degree (e.g., MBA, MPA, M.Ed.) in educational business, public administration, or related field preferred Advanced exposure to higher education, healthcare, or any industry where applicable experience may be gained and the organizational dynamics of this industry preferred self-starter with initiative and ability to work under

Job Duties:

  • Maintain advanced working knowledge of institutional and programmatic accreditation guidelines, policies, and requirements through continuous professional development conferences and other available resources. 
  • Support the university in maintaining institutional accreditation status for the HSC by ensuring compliance with SACSCOC accreditation standards, THECB, and other state/federal agencies. 
  • Collaborate with respective faculty/staff to develop and maintain institutional policies, best practices, and modification required for SACSCOC compliance for Substantive Change, Off Campus Instructional Sites, Dual/Joint Degrees, and Faculty Credentials. 
  • Continuously support the academic program and cocurricular assessment initiatives and continuous improvement efforts to ensure continuous compliance with SACSCOC accreditation requirements. 
  • Support in the administration and training of the university's accreditation management software. 
  • Collaborate with colleges/schools to provide consultation and support of programmatic accreditation efforts to ensure SACSCOC alignment and institutional effectiveness. 
  • Partner with university leadership and other stakeholders to plan onsite SACSCOC and other programmatic accreditation peer review process. 
  • Works effectively with faculty and staff teams to analyze issues and develop solutions.
