Department Summary

System IT is a component of The University of North Texas System. The mission of System IT is simple: to be the best at delivering customer-aligned IT solutions and services. Our services are provided to all member institutions using an IT shared services governance model.

System IT provides the primary technology used by all campuses to support their operations. These include: shared resources of data centers, computing hardware, software applications, network and voice communications, collaboration and productivity capabilities, central web services, risk management, and security and compliance services. Position Overview

The System IT Department at the University of North Texas System is seeking to hire an IT Security Analyst I. The holder of this position will be a member of the IT Compliance team which provides compliance and risk management support for the University of North Texas System and institutions. This position assists with risk assessments, audits, and compliance initiatives. The holder of the position must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to work without supervision and possess good problem solving skills. This is a security sensitive position.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and two (2) years of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department.
  • Knowledge of information security practices and principles.
  • Ability to operate computer keyboards and to install computer hardware.
  • Ability to assimilate, retain and utilize technical and applications-oriented information.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
* One or more years' experience working in GRC (governance, risk, and compliance) role or comparable role.
* Working knowledge of Texas Administrative Code 202 and the Texas Cybersecurity Framework; Technical writing experience.
* Experience working with institutions of higher education.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

 

Job Duties:

  • Conducts risk assessments of technology resources, internal and third party.
  • Assesses compliance with IT programs, policies, standards, and guidelines. 
  • Performs reviews of technology contracts for compliance with federal and State of Texas law. 
  • Assists with the Cybersecurity Awareness Training Program. 
  • Assists with the System IT Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity programs. 
  • Monitor and report on information technology risk.
